Pan Pac brief profile
In 1990, the first Pan Pacs, there were 45 teams contesting three age groups.  In the last Pan Pacs, in 2010, 118 teams competed in four age groups and both genders.  This year we expect similar numbers with approximately 40 overseas teams and approximately 80 New Zealand based teams.  Approximately half of the New Zealand teams come from outside the Auckland area.
Introduction
The Pan Pacific Youth Water Polo Festival (Pan Pacs) is the premier youth water polo festival in the Southern Hemisphere.  It is also the largest water polo event in the southern hemisphere and one of the top 5 largest worldwide.  And this year it is even bigger with over 140 teams entered.
New Zealand Water Polo, a not for profit National Sports Organisation (NSO), has run this international tournament in Auckland every two years for the past 22 years with the 2012 event being the twelfth edition.
